Kukkiwon will release eight educational videos on color belt poomsae for Taekwondo practitioners.

There will a total of eight videos covering the meaning and key aspects of each poomsae from Taegeuk 1 Jang to Taegeuk 8 Jang.

Starting with a video on Taegeuk 1 Jang which will be released on January 16 (Thu) at 5:00 PM, they will be sequentially released every Thursday on the official Kukkiwon YouTube channel.

This is the first time in four years that poomsae educational videos have been produced, following the "Taekwondo Poomsae Educational Videos" developed by the Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Academy (WTA) in October 2020.

Instead of showing simple demonstrations, these online videos will be in an online lecture format and WTA instructor Lee Ki-cheol will be teaching poomsae with demonstrators of various age groups.

Explaining the meaning and structure of each poomsae while providing detailed guidance on key movements and breathing techniques, these videos will make teaching and practicing better for both instructors and practioners.

The video will be especially effective as they will show some examples of common mistakes that could be made, such as in transitions between movements, and offer opportunities for viewers to practice along.

For international instructors and practitioners, the videos will also have English and Spanish subtitles.

Kukkiwon President Lee Dong-sup explained, “Poomsae which can be considered the beginning and end of Taekwondo, holds great educational value in cultivating focus, discipline and perseverance through practice. We hope these videos will be helpful to various types of practitioners training in color belt poomsae.”

Meanwhile, Kukkiwon is currently focused on creating content to promote Taekwondo’s value by using social media channels that are easily accessible to both practitioners and the general public.
