Kukkiwon Publishes 5th Yearbook, KUKKIWON
Published for the first time in a yearbook format on December 10 (Tue) … Covers various news from 2024
Kukkiwon has published the 5th yearbook, KUKKIWON.
Starting this year, in order to enhance the quality of production, the publication format has been changed from a quarterly to an annual publication. The 2024 issue includes major events and projects that Kukkiwon carried out during the year as well as various news from the world of Taekwondo.
Since May 2023, Kukkiwon has been publishing this yearbook to share news with the global Taekwondo family and promote exchange and unity.
The publication is printed in both Korean and English (210x297mm, 136 pages) and includes sections such as the Cover Story, Road, Future, Great Unity, Exploration, Life, Special Feature, Research, Heritage and News.
The "Cover Story," highlights the 50th anniversary of the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Demonstration Team, reflecting on the half-century of its history and exploring the future direction of the demonstration team.
The "Great Unity" section focuses on the "2024 Mungyeong World Taekwondo Hanmadang," which saw an unprecedentedly heated breaking competition, featuring stories of world-renowned breaking masters, including Seong Jang-Min (affiliated with the Giant Association) and the meaning of breaking in their lives.
The "Special Feature" explores the meaning of Taekwondo which marked the 30th anniversary of its inclusion as an official Olympic sport, and includes touching and joyful moments from the 2024 Paris Olympics with vibrant photographs.
The "Exploration" and "Research" cover a variety of Taekwondo topics, including Taekwondo and character education, Taekwondo for the elderly, disabled Taekwondo for people with disabilities, UNESCO inclusion as well as Taekwondo’s academic value. This issue also includes interviews with notable Taekwondo figures, such as Noh Soon-Myung, Administrative Vice President of Kukkiwon, Breaking King Seol Min-Ji, Master Kim Woo-Seop from the U.S., Poomsae prodigy Lee Joo-Young, and a Taekwondo 9th dan couple.
Kukkiwon President Lee Dong-Sup said, "I am pleased to release another issue of our yearbook as we reflect on the past year for Kukkiwon and Taekwondo. I hope that it serves not just as a simple yearbook but as a link that connects Taekwondo families around the world and helps us prepare for a bright new year."
KUKKIWON is a non-commercial item that will be distributed to relevant Taekwondo and sports organizations both domestically and internationally. It will also be available as an e-book for anyone to read on the Kukkiwon website ().
Also, Kukkiwon will send the e-book access link to domestic (KPS, Kukkiwon Promotion System) and international (KMS, Kukkiwon Membership System) poom and dan promotion recommenders' email addresses to make sure more Taekwondo practitioners can easily access the yearbook.
