4 Episodes to be released over a month
Kukkiwon is to release “Transition Taekwondo,” a poomsae training video series in a variety show format.
In this series, an athlete will be “transitioning” from another sport to train in Taekwondo for the first time, hence the title “Transition Taekwondo”. The series was developed as fun, entertaining training video series that break away from the rigid style of traditional instructional videos.
The series features former national swimming team member Cho Seo-yeon, who has no prior experience with Taekwondo and she will be learning poomsae from Professor Song Sun-young of the World Taekwondo Academy (WTA).
The series aims to expand Taekwondo's reach by shifting the perception that Taekwondo is a challenging sport primarily for youth. Instead, it sends a message that Taekwondo can be easily started by people of all ages, including adults and seniors.
Unlike traditional videos that focus solely on demonstrating poomsae, “Transition Taekwondo” will show how poomsae can be taught and learned, allowing viewers to practice poomsae independently and anywhere.
Premiering on October 30 (Wed) at 5 PM on Kukkiwon's official YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/kukkiwonpr), the episodes will be released sequentially through November 30 (Sat).
The four-part series will include, Episode 1 Taegeuk 1 Jang, Episode 2 Taegeuk 2 Jang, Episode 3 Taegeuk 3 Jang and Episode 4 Taegeuk 4 Jang, all with English subtitles for viewers around the globe.
Kukkiwon is currently focusing on developing video content and creating YouTube videos to promote Taekwondo's value globally.
Following “Transition Taekwondo,” a new series about poomsae training with World Taekwondo Academy Professor Lee Ki-cheol will be released in November with a fresh concept and structure.
