Kukkiwon Holds U.S. Branch Director Appointment Ceremony

The ceremony for eight branch directors took place on October 22 (Tue) at 11 a.m. in the Kukkiwon President's office

 

Kukkiwon held the "2024 U.S. Branch Director Appointment Ceremony" (hereinafter referred to as the Appointment Ceremony).

 

The Appointment Ceremony for eight branch directors who will oversee Kukkiwon’s operations in the United States, took place on October 22 (Tue) at 11 a.m. in the Kukkiwon President's office in the presence of Kukkiwon officials including President Lee Dong-sup.

 

The newly appointed directors, Kim Sam-jang (New York), Jung Dae-sung (New Jersey), Choi Eung-gil (Virginia), Lee Cheol-woo (Illinois), Lee Hee-sup (Texas), Oh Joo-yeol (Florida), Shin Yong-sup (California) and Lee Sang-cheol (responsible for 45 U.S. states) will be carrying out Kukkiwon’s key project in the U.S.

 

As part of its overseas network development project, Kukkiwon had announced an application process for U.S. branch directors from July 1 (Mon) to July 31 (Wed) of this year.

 

A selection committee which was established on August 14 (Wed) conducted evaluations and eligibility reviews from August 20 to August 22, assessing 20 organizations across eight regions. The branch directors were appointed and the agenda was deliberated and approved at Kukkiwon's 2024 5th Interim Board Meeting on September 3.

 

At the ceremony, Kukkiwon President Lee Dong-sup expressed his aspirations saying "Through this appointment ceremony, we are going to promote Kukkiwon’s capabilities in the U.S., elevate Kukkiwon’s presence within the United States and strengthen its value. We will focus all our efforts on expanding the scope of our projects."

 

Following President Lee Dong-sup inauguration, to establish global hubs, Kukkiwon has undertaken the "Establishment of Overseas Branches and Offices" project according to the "Three Strategic Goals and Six Core Tasks" that were announced in May 2021.

 

Kukkiwon has already signed basic agreements and MOUs for establishing branches and offices in a total of 95 countries; 20 in Europe, 31 in Asia, 15 in the Americas, 26 in Africa and 3 in Oceania.
