At 4PM on July 9th (Tue), approximately 30 government officials from the state of Texas including Cecilia Abbott, the First Lady of Texas and Texas Secretary of State visited Kukkiwon.

Texas Delegation visited Kukkiwon and experienced the essence of taekwondo.

At 4PM on July 9th (Tue), a delegation of approximately 30 government officials from the state of Texas including Cecilia Abbott, the First Lady of Texas, visited Kukkiwon.

Upon arriving at Kukkiwon, the delegation met with Kukkiwon President Lee Dong-sup, watched a demonstration by the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Demonstration Team, received honorary dan certificates and concluded their schedule for the day after taking group photos.

"We sincerely welcome your visit to Kukkiwon. Civil diplomacy between Korea and the United States is actively carried out through taekwondo. Thanks to this, I believe that the Korea-US alliance can remain strong. We ask for your continued interest in taekwondo and Kukkiwon“ said President Lee at the meeting, welcoming the delegation.

"It is an honor to visit Kukkiwon, and we thank you for the warm hospitality. I am delighted and very much looking forward to seeing the world-renowned Kukkiwon Taekwondo Demonstration Team's performance“ replied First Lady Cecilia Abbott.

Jane Nelson, Texas Secretary of State, who accompanied Cecilia Abbott, shared her special connection, mentioning that her two grandsons are currently practicing taekwondo and expressed her excitement for visiting Kukkiwon.

President Lee Dong-sup and the delegation moved to the Central Training Hall to watch the demonstration prepared by the team as a gesture of welcome.

The delegation expressed their admiration, giving generous applause and cheers whenever the demonstration team performed high-level breaking techniques and poomsae.

Lastly, President Lee Dong-sup awarded an honorary 5th Dan certificate and presented a taekwondo uniform and belt to Secretary of State Jane Nelson, recognizing her contributions to promoting taekwondo.

Meanwhile, Cecilia Abbott received an honorary 7th dan certificate on behalf of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who could not attend due to his schedule.
