Kukkiwon Begins Recruiting Taekwondo instructors for Overseas Dispatch
One candidate selected for each of the two countries among ten candidate countries … Applications accepted until June 26th (Wed) at 6 p.m.
Kukkiwon has begun recruiting taekwondo instructors for overseas dispatch.
There are a total of 10 candidate countries for dispatch: 2 Type A countries (Tajikistan, Nigeria), 7 Type B countries (Bahrain, Gabon, Algeria, Angola, Cameroon, Jamaica, Cuba), and 1 Type C country (Vietnam).
Instructors dispatched to Type A countries will focus on coaching taekwondo, particularly sparring, for national teams and athletes. Type B instructors will provide forms and demonstration education to school, military, police and academy instructors. Type C instructors will be responsible for promoting taekwondo overall, including sparring and forms.
Applicants can select up to three countries within the same type but not apply for countries under different types.
This recruitment includes Cuba which established diplomatic relations with South Korea this year, and instructor dispatch is expected to enhance cultural exchange with Central and South American countries through taekwondo.
Applicants must be Korean citizens according to the Nationality Act or Koreans overseas under the Framework Act on Overseas Koreans, holding at least a 5th dan in taekwondo and 3rd class international taekwondo instructor license, and must not be subject to passport issuance restrictions or travel bans.
Additionally, they must have a sports instructor license (taekwondo) under the Sports Promotion Act, but those who have not acquired it can obtain it within one year of selection.
The deadline for applications is June 26th (Wed) at 6 p.m. Applications are accepted only via email (dispatchtkd@gmail.com).
A second round of selection (language, practical skills, interview evaluation) will be conducted for first-round qualifiers, followed by introductory training before the dispatch. Selected instructors will receive support for airfare (initial dispatch and training sessions), relocation expenses (initial dispatch), as well as basic salary, housing rent, children's tuition (for eligible candidates), dispatch allowance, and local activity expenses for stable immigration and settlement.
Detailed information about the recruitment can be found in the employment announcement section in Announcement & News on the Kukkiwon website ().
"Currently, 52 instructors dispatched from 52 countries are diligently promoting taekwondo and carrying out various cultural activities in the countries they are sent to. Living abroad, there may be many challenges but it will be a rewarding and valuable experience. We ask for the support and interest of taekwondo instructors who possess both skills and character for this dispatch program" commented Kukkiwon President Lee Dong-sup.
