Kukkiwon has established a cooperative network with the Royal Spanish Taekwondo Federation (hereinafter referred to as the Federation).

On April 11th (Thu), in Alicante, Spain, a ceremony to sign a memorandum of understanding for the establishment of an office was held and the two parties agreed to strengthen their cooperative system.

The officials from both organizations, including Kukkiwon President Lee Dong-sup, Jesus Castellanos Pueblas, President of the Federation, and Jose Maria Pujadas Fernandez, Secretary-General of the Federation attended the signing ceremony.

The two organizations, through this memorandum of understanding, plan to continue their cooperation regarding, △Kukkiwon’s mandatory issuance of poom and dan certificates in case of poom and dan applications by the Federation, △special promotion tests and △Taekwondo competitions.

Kukkiwon’s Demonstration Team departed for Spain on April 3rd, performed traditional taekwondo demonstrations three times at events including the “Spain National Taekwondo Awards Gala”, International Spanish Open and a cultural event held at Alicante and receiving warm responses.

At the Gala, Kukkiwon President Lee Dong-sup awarded an honorary 7th Dan certificate to Alejandro Blanco, President of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), for his contribution to the promotion and development of taekwondo in Spain.

"The fact that we can now distribute Kukkiwon’s official poom and dan certificates instead of the Federation's own certificates through this memorandum of understanding is very meaningful. We will further strengthen our global network to promote taekwondo in Spain." emphasized President Lee Dong-sup.

Meanwhile, since 2022, Kukkiwon has been setting up offices overseas to smoothly carry out its international activities and enhance the value of poom and dan certification.
