48 Trainees from 42 Countries Complete 2023 Global Taekwondo Master Training Program at Kukkiwon
Completion Ceremony Held On October 31 at the Main Stadium… Program Carried Out for Four Weeks at Muju Taekwondowon
The “2023 Global Taekwondo Master Training Program“ participated by 48 trainees from 42 countries successfully ended.
Kukkiwon announced that all 48 trainees from 42 countries including 21 countries in Asia, 11 countries in Africa, 6 countries in the Americas, 2 countries in Europe and 2 countries in Oceania, successfully completed the 2023 Global Taekwondo Master Training Program and attended the completion ceremony held on October 31 at the main stadium of Kukkiwon. The program which began on October 6 was carried out for four weeks at Taekwondowon in Muju, Korea.
The ceremony, in the presence of Kukkiwon President Lee Dong-sup, Vice President Noh Soon-myung and WTA President Kim Sae-hyuk, proceeded with awarding certificates to the trainees, awarding excellent trainees, a group photo shoot and a performance by Kukkiwon Demonstration Team. 8 trainees including Mr. Jose Tembe from Mozambique who completed the program with outstanding performance was awarded Kukkiwon President’s citations.
Through this program which covered △Taekwondo Theory (Taekwondo Terminology and Basic Movements, Poomsae (Color Belt Holders and Black Belt Holders), Demonstration, Taekwondo Self Defense Skills), △Taekwondo Practice (Poomsae (Color Belt Holders and Black Belt Holders), Taekwondo Taping for Injuries, Demonstration, Taekwondo Breaking, Taekwondo Self Defense Skills, Competition) and △ Special Lectures (President Lee Kyu-seok of Asian Taekwondo Union, Former Secretary-General of World Taekwondo Federation Man-sik Choi), the trainees were able to hone their theoretical knowledge, skills and Taekwondo spirit.
The trainees also had the chance to experience Korea’s traditional culture and to understand Korea better by visiting Gyeongju and Jeonju.
After the ceremony, by looking around Kukkiwon in small groups, taking photos together and exchanging phone numbers, the trainees deepened their special and meaningful friendships brought together by Taekwondo at Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquarters.
The Global Taekwondo Master Training Program first began in 2015 for Taekwondo instructors in developing countries to strengthen their expertise by offering them standardized theoretical and practical Taekwondo training and, to cultivate professional Taekwondo instructors equipped with global mindset and competitiveness. Since then, 386 trainees from 237 countries have participated in the program.
“I hope this training program has been a valuable opportunity for you to grow as an instructor and as a person. Please continue to promote Taekwondo in your home country” said Kukkiwon President Lee Dong-sup.
Kukkiwon is also planning to release a series of training videos called “Don’t Stop Taekwondo” capturing the training days of Sinta Herru who is a section chief at Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sport and Dr. David Hakizimana, Chairman of Rwanda Taekwondo Federation in late November to further promote Taekwondo across the world.
