President Lee Dong-sup of “World Taekwondo Headquarters“, Kukkiwon received a diplomatic medal from the government of Mongolia on August 29.

President Lee Dong-sup who is visiting Ulaanbaatar (Aug 23 – Aug 29) invited to the "Korea Week 2023" co-hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Mongolia and the city of Ulaanbaatar, received a diplomatic medal from Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh at the diplomatic medal ceremony held at the State Palace of Mongolia. The medal had been recommended by Kim Jong-gu, Korean Ambassador to Mongolia.

Having sent self defence instructors to the State Special Security Office of Mongolia, General Intelligence Agency of Mongolia and Special Operations Command, Kukkiwon was highly recognized for its contribution in promoting real-life Taekwondo in government institutions of Mongolia. The officers of State Special Security Office of Mongolia all said that training in real-life Taekwondo has helped them acquire the skills they couldn't learn from training judo or jiu jitsu. The government of Mongolia requested Kukkiwon to continue to provide support in training instructors for government institutions in Mongolia.

President Lee carried out sports diplomacy without rest during his visit to Mongolia. On August 25, he visited the Mongolian National Olympic Committee and had an in-depth discussion with President Battushig of the Committee on how to promote Taekwondo in Mongolia. Also, on August 28, President Lee presented an honorary 6 dan black belt to Chief Altangerel of the State Special Security Office of Mongolia. The State Special Security Office of Mongolia requested Kukkiwon to send instructors so they could learn practical Taekwondo self defence techniques. Chief Altangerel treated President Lee and his company as state guests by inviting them to the office that had once been used by the rulers of Mongolia.

"Korea and Mongolia united through this visit. Taekwondo is the national martial art of Korea and is the essence and was the beginning of globally popular K-culture. Taekwondo is the best martial art that is practiced by more 200 million people around the world" emphasized President Lee.
