Kukkiwon Releases Promotional “K-lobal Taekwondo” Video
Episodes 1 and 2 released on January 13 on YouTube... Series will show the basics of Taekwondo and offer special events for viewers
Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquarters is releasing a promotional “K-lobal” video on the world’s largest video platform, YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/
user/kukkiwonpr).
On January 13, Kukkiwon will be releasing episodes 1 and 2 of “K-lobal Taekwondo” made to help people learn about Korea’s traditional martial art Taekwondo.
“K-lobal” which is a combination of “Korea” and “Global” and this 4-episode series will be for the general public around the world.
In the series, American TV personality and YouTuber Kris Johnson learns basic Taekwondo moves, kicks, self defense skills and competition from members of Kukkiwon’s Taekwondo Demonstration Team and carries out missions. Each video is about 5 to 10 minutes long.
In Episode 1, Johnson tries on a dobok which is a Taekwondo uniform and he learns basic Taekwondo moves like strikes, stances, blocks and kicks. In this episode, his mission is to blow out a candle using the moves he learned. You can check out how Johnson performed this mission in this episode.
In Episode 2, Johnson attempts to break boards using various kicks like the front kick, side kick, roundhouse kick and axe kick.
“I learned a lot. It’s not just the body but you also train the mind. Like hitting 2 birds with 1 stone” said Kris Johnson excitedly after learning Taekwondo.
Episodes 1 and 2 will be released back to back on January 13, Episode 3 on January 20 and Episode 4 on January 27.
There is also a special quiz event. You can leave the answer to the quiz question given at the end of Episode 1 in the comment section at Kukkiwon’s official YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/kukkiwonpr) by January 19. 50 people answering the correct answer will be randomly selected and given mobile free coffee vouchers.
Meanwhile, Kukkiwon will be releasing the story of Ha Kwan-yong, the men's over 80kg gold medalist at the 2022 Deaflympic on YouTube on as the 9th episode of the “Don’t Stop Taekwondo” Campaign which was first launched in March 2021.
Ha was diagnosed with sudden deafness in 9th grade but without giving up, he became a member of the national team for Deaflympics. He will be telling his touching and hopeful story and how he has been able to turn his life around.
The “Don’t Stop Taekwondo” Campaign which has been steadily popular, introducing lives of various Taekwondo practitioners, what Taekwondo means to them, their philosophy towards challenges and training and their goals. Grand Master Kim Myeong-gwan who is visually impaired but is preparing to take the 9th dan promotion test, a young girl dreaming of becoming a member of the national team and also the episode about students practicing Taekwondo with all their hearts in a college Taekwondo club was very well received.
