Gap-gil Jeon Reelected as Chairman of the Board of Directors
New Chairman Elected at the “2022 6th Special Board Meeting” Held on October 14 (Fri) … Chairman to Take Office After Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Approval
Gap-gil Jeon has been reelected as Kukkiwon’s chairman of the board of directors.
At the “2022 6th Special Board Meeting” held in the presence of 18 out of 20 registered directors in Kukkiwon’s lecture hall on October 14 (Fri) 11am, Gap-gil Jeon has been reelected as the chairman of the board of directors after the third round of voting.
As the term of Chairman Jeon who has previously been elected as the chairman in March 2020 ends on October 16 (Sun), Kukkiwon held a special board meeting, and, deliberated and decided on the election of chairman.
At the meeting, candidates were recommended and numbers were assigned to the candidates. A voting with three candidates - No. 1 Director Gap-gil Jeon, No. 2 Director Mu-cheon Kim, No. 3 Director Byeong-yoon Ji, was carried out.
In the first round of the voting with 18 voters present, Director Gap-gil Jeon received 7 votes, Director Mu-cheon Kim 4 votes and Director Byeong-yoon Ji 5 votes. There were two invalid votes.
According to Kukkiwon’s Articles of Association, among multiple candidates for the chairman of the board, if none of the candidates wins a majority of votes from registered directors, voting should be carried out between the two candidates who have won the most votes until one candidate wins a majority of votes. So, the second round of the voting was carried out.
In the second round, Director Gap-gil Jeon received 10 votes, Director Byeong-yoon Ji 3 votes and there were 5 invalid votes. However, neither of the candidates won a majority of votes.
Before starting the third round, Director Byeong-yoon Ji resigned from candidacy and the third voting for Director Gap-gil Jeon was carried out. And finally, receiving 11 yes votes, 6 no votes and 1 invalid vote, Director Gap-gil Jeon was elected as the new chairman of the board.

Chairman Gap-gil Jeon will take office after Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s approval in accordance with Kukkiwon’s Articles of Association. His term starts on the date of the approval and ends on October 16, 2025.
