Kukkiwon To Unveil Monument for Integration of Taekwondo Kwan

The momument will be unveiled at Kukkiwon on June 16 at 10:30 a.m. … The Bust of the First President Late Kim Unyong will be also unveiled.

Kukkiwon will unveil the monument of integrating Taekwondo Kwan and the bust of the late Kim Unyong, the first president of Kukkiwon.

The unveiling ceremony that will be held at Kukkiwon from 10:30 a.m. on June 16 was prepared to look back on the history and meaning of the integration of Taekwondo Kwan, which are the cornerstone of the development of Taekwondo, and to commemorate the achievements and spirit of the first president Kim Unyong.

The history of integration of Taekwondo Kwan dates back to the 1970s.

After the opening of Kukkiwon in 1972, to integrate nine kwan where more than 3,000 studios nationwide belong worked together in 1976, the name of Kwan was changed to serial numbers.

On August 5, 1978, Taekwondo Chong Bon Kwan decided to integrate (close) Kwan according to the resolution of its Board of Directors. On October 26, 1978, Chong Bon Kwan as a coalition of nine Kwan was voluntarily closed, Kukkiwon has finally had a crucial role for the global family of Taekwondo and has been shaped as the World Taekwondo Headquarters.

The unveiling ceremony will be held by dividing parts 1 and 2.

Starting from playing the video showing the history of integration of Taekwondo Kwan, etc. at Kukkiwon Main Stadium, the events in Part 1 will run 30 minutes, including the commemorative speech, the congratulatory speech, and the congratulatory performance of Kukkiwon Taekwondo Demonstration Team.

After the events in Part 1 are finished at the main stadium, the venue for the event in Part 2 will move to the south entrance, and the unveiling ceremonies of the monument of the integration of Taekwondo Kwan and the bust of the first president Kim Unyoung will be carried out.

Ahead of unveiling them, they will have a time to deliver an appreciation plaque to Ms. Park Dong-suk, the spouse of the first president to express the gratitude for her devoted support.

On the day, the events will be attended by senior Taekwondo masters as well as officials concerned in the Taekwondo-relatd organizations, and directors and employees of Kukkiwon.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Kukkiwon, they started to make the monument and the bust of the first president in November last year, and they finally come to fruition over eight months.
